*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 142  All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name!  CORONATION

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord Jesus, Son of Mary, Son of God; with our lips we confess that you are the Messiah, the anointed one, our Christ and our King but in fear, anger and grief we quickly turn in sin to idols of our own making in hopes of finding protection, justice and comfort. We allow fear to rule in our hearts and determine our actions. King of kings, in our prayers we call for your Kingdom to come on earth but in our doubts of your divine Lordship we place our trust in kingdoms, governments and forces of this world. Forgive us our sins and free us from our captivity to fear and doubt. Help us recommit ourselves to being followers of our one true salvation, you, Christ Jesus. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE  (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Hear the good news: we have received grace and peace from God who is and who was and who is to come and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

People: To him who loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us to be a kingdom, priests serving his God and father, to him be glory and dominion forever.

Leader: Look! He is coming with the clouds; every eye will see him. Believe the promise of his gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Halleluiah. Amen. -adapted from Rev. 1: 4-7

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
