*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.

People: Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.

Leader: Full of honor and majesty is God’s work, and God’s righteousness endures forever.

People: God has gained renown by God’s wonderful deeds; the Lord is gracious and merciful.

Leader: Therefore, let us worship the Lord. Amen. -Psalm 111: 1-4

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 332  Live Into Hope

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, in your wisdom and your grace you have created us and filled our lives with all that we need. You have set a table with more than enough room and food for all. Yet we are so often unsatisfied with what we have been given. We anxiously work for more or long for something different, even when we know those things may bring pain—to us, to our loved ones and to you. Forgive us, O God. Give us clean hearts and minds that we may find joy in what we have and be grateful for your grace. Give us new eyes to see the wisdom of your ways and give us strength to follow Jesus, laying aside immaturity to live and walk in the way of insight. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Put aside all bitterness, losing your temper, anger, shouting, and slander, along with every other evil.

People: Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving to each other, in the same way God forgave you in Christ.

Leader: Therefore, imitate God, like dearly loved children. Live your life with love, following the example of Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us and believe the good news of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Alleluia! Amen. - Ephesians 4:31-5:2a

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
