11 A.M. WORSHIP

THE GATHERING  James Klotz

Leader: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you.

THE PRELUDE  Now the Silence  Michael Helman

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: We ponder your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple.

People: Your name, O God, like your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth.

Leader: Let Mount Zion be glad, let the towns of Judah rejoice because of your judgments and let us worship the Lord.

- Psalm 48:9-11

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 491  Stand Up and Bless the Lord

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, your Scripture speaks of the many prophets you have sent throughout time to remind us of your Truth and call us to renewed relationship with you. Yet, we confess we have often ignored their words and at times rejected their message. You sent Jesus to be your message in the flesh, and even after hearing his wisdom and witnessing his deeds of power, we confess that we still rebel against his call to be disciples. Forgive us for all the ways we have dishonored you. Help us to be inspired and not offended by your Word, encouraged and not fearful of your grace-filled power in the world and in our lives. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE  (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Beloved, you are forgiven in Christ, the Lamb who bears our sin.

People: Happy are those who put their trust in God, and delight to do God’s will.

Leader: For God makes our footing sure upon the rock of Christ. Believe the Good News of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Alleluia. Amen.

- Psalm 40:2,4,8; John 1:29

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Hymn 398)
