THE TIME WITH CHILDREN

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, you have known many hallelujahs. You have heard many hymns of praise. You have been the recipient of our adulation. And you know as well when our passions cool, when our shouts of praise become stifled and our hearts turn mean and petty. Our sin is not hidden, well you know our flaws. You know what we have nursed in the privacy of our own minds. You know what we have hidden in the shadows of our lives. You know when we have turned angrily, sadly, frightened away. Turn us once more, we pray, to your gracious light. Forgive our sin and lead us in the way you would have us go, for the sake of Jesus, who was crucified, dead and buried, we pray. Amen.

THE KYRIE  (Hymn 572)

Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us.

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: By grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing: it is the gift of God - not the result of works, so that no one might boast.

People: For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand to be our way of life.

Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - Ephesians 2:8-10

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Hymn 416)

Laud and honor to the Father, laud and honor to the Son, laud and honor to the Spirit, ever three and ever one; one in might and one in glory while unending ages run.

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
