THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, remind us of our baptism as we prepare to come to your table. Remind us of your unconditional love poured out for the world. Remind us of your body given for us that we might know the depth and width of your love for humankind. You have created for us a calling where we show the way to others. So, where we have failed to love as you love, forgive us. Where we have lived only for ourselves, forgive us. Where we have hurt others intentionally, forgive us. Where we have offended others through omission, forgive us. Give us the grace to live into your wonderful calling to be a light to the nations, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: By grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing: it is the gift of God - not the result of works, so that no one might boast.

People: For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand to be our way of life.

Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - Ephesians 2:8-10

* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 478)

Praise him for his grace and favor to his people in distress; praise him still the same as ever, slow to chide, and swift to bless: Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorious in his faithfulness.

THE ANTHEM  Love Divine, All Loves Excelling  Sydney H. Nicholson

Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down; fix in us thy humble dwelling; all thy faithful mercies crown! Jesus thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art; visit us with thy salvation; enter every trembling heart. Come, Almighty to deliver, let us all thy grace receive; suddenly return and never, nevermore thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above, pray and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love. Finish, then, thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be. Let us see thy great salvation perfectly restored in thee; changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise.
