THE GATHERING Josh Stanley

THE PRELUDE  Tierce en Taille  Nicolas de Gringy

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.

People: Every day I will bless you, and praise your name forever and ever.

Leader: Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable.

People: One generation shall laud your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.

Leader: On the glorious splendor of your majesty and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.

People: Let us worship God, our creator, redeemer and sustainer. - Psalm 145:1-5

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 267  All Things Bright and Beautiful

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty, eternal God, how quickly we reduce you to an empty deity. How efficiently we relegate you a place somewhere below household concerns. Our time of worship is fleeting, barely there, and too soon we “return to normal.” You want more of us. You offer us transformation but we grasp at what we know. Forgive us we pray, and make us want to be better servants. And wanting, empower us to do what you would have us do. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: “So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed, day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.

People: Because we look not at what can be seen, but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”

Leader: Friends, believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

* THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 332)

Live into hope of captives freed from chains of fear or want or greed. God now proclaims our full release to faith and hope and joy and peace.

* THE PEACE OF CHRIST
