People: Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.

People: the Lord is gracious and merciful.
Leader: Then let us worship God: Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
- Psalm 111:1-4

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 313  Come Down, O Love Divine

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty, eternal God, how quickly we reduce you to an empty deity. How efficiently we relegate you a place somewhere below household concerns. Our time of worship is fleeting, barely there. You want more of us. You offer us trans-formation but we grasp at business as usual, trying to fill discipleship into the cracks where space allows. Forgive us we pray, and make us want to be better servants. And when we want it, empower us to do what you would have us do. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE  (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: I appeal to you, therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
People: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! - Romans 12: 1-2

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Hymn 322)
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me;
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

THE RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS

THE FIRST READING Acts 2:1-12 (page 111 in the pew Bible, NT)

THE ANTHEM  Draw Us in the Spirit’s Tether  Harold Friedell
Draw us in the Spirit's tether; For when humbly, in thy name, Two or three are met together, Thou art in the midst of them: Alleluya! Alleluya! Touch we now thy garment's hem. As the brethren used to gather In the name of Christ to sup, Then with thanks to God the Father Break the bread and bless the cup, Alleluya! Alleluya! So knit thou our friendship up. All our meals and all our living Make us sacraments of thee, That be caring, helping, giving, We may true disciples be. Alleluya! Alleluya! We will serve thee faithfully.

THE SECOND READING  Acts 2:13-21  (page 111 in the pew Bible, NT)

THE SERMON “Filled with New Wine” Baron Mullis

*THE HYMN 126  Come, Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
