- Psalm 98:4-6

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 423  Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, we know what it is to live with our eye on you, remembering our
blessings as your redeemed people. You call us to be a new creation, created according
to the likeness of God. And yet we persist in behavior that does little to
tell others of your goodness and mercy. Our responses are lacking: lacking in energy,
lacking in creativity, and even at times, lacking in sincerity. But that is not
the way we want to be. Forgive us, we pray, and remind us again of our calling to
be imitators of God, beloved children living in love as Christ loved us. We ask all
these things in Jesus’ name and for his sake. Amen.

THE KYRIE (Hymn 572)
Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.
Lord, have mercy upon us.

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation. The old has passed away;
the new has come.
People: All this is from God, who reconciled himself to us through Christ and has
given us the ministry of reconciliation.
Leader: That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their
trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. Believe the
Promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - 2 Corinthians 5:17-19

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 139)
To Thee, great One in Three, the highest praises be, hence evermore! Thy sovereign
majesty may we in glory see, and to eternity love and adore.

*THE APOSTLES’ CREED  Dana Hughes
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he
descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he
shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection
of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
