THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, who has made and loved us and wants for us the fullness of creation.
You have wanted for us a life of love and community. You have provided
amply for all our needs in abundance. Yet, we persist in wanting our own way.
We are not satisfied with the abundance you gift us, we want more. We are not
pleased to live as your beloved children, we want control, over ourselves and
others. Forgive us, we pray. Remind us of your loving-kindness that extends
from generation to generation. Enable us to trust in your tender mercies and
rely upon your grace that we may be made whole. Give us the grace to seek new
beginnings, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: It is God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts to
give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Believe
the Promise of the Gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. - 2 Corinthians 4:6

* THE APOSTLES’ CREED Dana Hughes
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he
descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he
shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy
catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection
of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
Amen.
